Peaceful Warrior Tournament
June 21, 2025 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Our four-hour tournament is an exciting opportunity for students to practice winning and losing with grace while showcasing the skills they've worked hard to develop.
Preparation begins months in advance with focused training in areas such as sportsmanship, authentic leadership, team building, public speaking, personal confidence, and self-worth. Students are grouped by age and belt level, with more experienced students competing in one ring and younger or less experienced students in another.
Instructors begin preparing students well before the event, helping them understand what to expect, from their Kata (patterns) and Kumite (point sparring), to how they introduce themselves to the judges. Over the next couple of months leading up to the tournament, our team will continue to coach students on tournament expectations, scoring, rules for point sparring, proper etiquette, and how to handle both victory and defeat with respect and humility.
Kata (Patterns)
Kata is judged on several elements: presentation to the judges, technical skill, and the student’s ability to demonstrate confidence (even if they’re nervous inside!). Scores range from 1.0 to 10.0, and the judges announce each score followed by the final average, such as 8.2. The highest-scoring student wins their division.
Kumite (Point Sparring)
In Kumite, students demonstrate control and precision, aiming to score points by getting close to their opponent without making contact. Matches typically last around two minutes, depending on age. The student with the most points at the end of the round advances.
Our double-elimination bracket means students who lose their first match aren’t out, they move into the loser’s bracket with a chance to fight their way back to the finals and even take 1st place!
Community Nights
Fun and pizza nights have multiple events running. These events build community and strengthens friendships. They are held by age groups Junior (7 to 10 years), Intermediate (10 to 13 years) and Teen (13 to 17 years).
Families are invited to free movie nights that are projected onto a big screen for everyone’s entertainment. You may bring your own snacks, blankets or pillows. All ages welcome, parents a must.
December Family Potluck Party
This two-hour event provides a combination of great food, shared with wonderful friends and topped off with the Demo Team performance.
